American violinist Tiani Butts is the youngest
sibling of four passionate musicians. She has been
a member in numerous orchestras including the
Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia, The Governor’s
School for the Arts Orchestra, Grassfield Chamber
Orchestra, Hampton Roads Chamber Players, and
the McDuffie Center for Strings Ensemble.
Currently a second year graduate student at the
University of Michigan School of Music, Theater,
and Dance, Tiani obtains degrees from The
Governor’s School for the Arts and the Robert
McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University. Over the summers, Tiani has
been a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival, the Wintergreen Summer Music
Academy and Festival, and Philadelphia International Music Festival Music
House. Tiani has had the honor of being a violinist in the Rome Chamber Music
Festival. In her free time, Tiani enjoys being active and spending time in nature
with her friends and family.
Tiani Butts has served as concertmaster of the Bay Youth Concert and Symphony
Orchestras, Grassfield Chamber Orchestra, and the McDuffie Center String
Ensemble. She has been a soloist for the Bay Youth Symphony and Grassfield
Chamber orchestra. Tiani made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2012 and had the
honor to perform in this hall again in February of 2017.
A former student of Amy Schwartz Moretti and Philadelphia Orchestra
concertmaster, David Kim, Tiani is continuing her studies under St. Louis
Symphony Concertmaster, David Halen.
