Daniel Kumapayi

With roots in Ìṣẹ̀-Èkìtì, Daniel Kumapayi is the Founder and Executive Director of Àkójọpọ̀. His identity as a Nigerian combined with a passion for social impact entrepreneurship, music education, arts administration, and diversity in the arts fuels his commitment towards Àkójọpọ̀. He is a 2020 alumnus of University of Michigan School of Music, Theater, & Dance, where he graduated with a bachelors in music education concentrating in double bass performance. Daniel was born in Lagos, Nigeria and presently lives in Chicago, IL where he currently works for the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra as a production assistant. He started this fall as a student at the University of Illinois pursuing a Masters in Public Administration with concentration in nonprofit management. He is a continuous learner seeking to always educate himself on the best practices within arts administration to support the vision of Àkójọpọ̀.
