Ajibade Seyi Emmanuel

Seyi is a musician, scholar, co-founder, and the  artistic director of Chamber Music Nigeria. He lived in Lagos, Nigeria all his life before he transitioned to further his education for graduate studies in the United States. He is currently a Ph.D. student in Ethnomusicology and a teaching assistant at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds a master’s degree in Education and Piano Performance from Carthage College, a bachelor's degree from the University of Lagos, a Diploma in Music from the Musical Society of Nigeria, as well as other graded professional examinations in piano performance from ABRSM and MUSON. As an advocate for music education and Nigerian Art and classical Music performance in Nigeria, he co-founded the Chamber Music Society Nigeria alongside two other founders. The aim of this is to further educate Nigerians about classical music and Nigerian art music and engage musicians in the country and give support towards music education. 


Seyi is a member of our concert project team where he has served as the rehearsal director for Àkójọpọ̀. He has been responsible for hiring musicians, contractors, and identifying volunteers. His deep understanding of Lagos, Nigeria, and first-hand experience within the music community allows him to excel in his role! Additionally, Seyi has strong communication skills, as he can work well with others, and has exceptional organizational skills which are all used to further our collective vision
